When I said that every guy has to figure out what he wants to do and focus on it, I didn’t mean what you took that to mean. What I meant was that a guy needs to figure out how much he wants women in his life, and what type of woman, and how important that is to him, and then design his life accordingly. I do agree that men are well-served in finding a passion that they can devote themselves to and master, and that this is a basis for attraction. But men also need to figure out what they want to do about their social life. One option is to decide “it’s really not that important to me, so I’m not going to bother developing social skills or emotional intelligence, and rather focus on developing my work passion, and see what happens” — which is close to what you are suggesting (I know you acknowledge the usefulness of social skills and EQ, but you do that in a way that sees them as being of limited use in terms of focus). That is one approach. Another approach is to mix the focus between the two and develop both — if, again, women are important in terms of optimizing results with them.
