My family owns a bar, so they shut that down for the day and we all got a little silly. It was my first Valentine’s Day since my last relationship ended so I was worried I would be upset, but it’s hard to be sad when you’re with your favorite drinking buddies!

We had brunch, not because of the holiday, but because I usually work brunch, and it was nice for once to actually enjoy someone else’s labors! Then, slept off the mimosas, and later, being too lazy to cook, we went out for a late dinner. When asked what we did for V-Day, I told my mom we celebrated Black History Month instead.

It was the best non-V Day celebration ever. This coming from someone who usually worked in a restaurant, plating heart-shaped desserts for couples!

I’m newly single (as of two months ago…that’s still pretty recent) so I was anticipating Valentine’s day being difficult, as I’d spent the last two with the same person (and, coincidentally, those are the only two years I’ve spent with someone). I thought it’d be filled with tears and lamenting my single-ness, but I actually had a good one. Helps that my ex has helped me to lose all respect for him of course.. raspberry
